Do product ratings or reviews improve Google rankings?

Does anyone here have any experince with working on their Google rating and reviews? I read an article that said building a good ranking and having positive customer reviews helps improve raking on Google search. Is this true?

A good overall rating and positive reviews together indicate trustworthiness of a business and overall customer satisfaction. Note that reviews would be even more effective if the reviewer included the keywords that your site is ranked for on Google and Google My Business.
